Postdoc position in granular mechanics and discrete element modeling
A postdoc position is available in the area of computational mechanics, in particular, granular mechanics and discrete element modeling (DEM), in support of a Department of Energy-funded research project on Integrated Process Optimization for Biochemical Conversion. This is a multidisciplinary research project with collaborations between multiple academic institutions and the DOE's Idaho National Laboratory.
The ideal candidate must have strong background and research experience in computational mechanics. Experience in research, open-source or commercial DEM packages is highly desirable. The candidate will be responsible for developing DEM models to simulate and predict the flowability of biomass particle systems and will work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
The initial appointment of the position is 1 year starting summer 2018. The primary location of this position will be Clemson University but a considerable amount of the work will also be performed at INL under the supervision of DoE researchers.
Applicants are required to send a detailed CV and contact information of 2 - 3 references. Applications and inquiries should be sent via email to Prof. Qiushi Chen (qiushi@clemson.edu).
Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
