Invitation to submit papers to Experimental Mechanics special issue: Mechanics of Additively Manufactured Materials
 
We are excited to invite you to contribute an article to an upcoming Special Issue titled "Mechanics of Additively Manufactured Materials," which will be published in Experimental Mechanics. Experimental Mechanics is our top journal in the field of experimental solid mechanics, and we have a growing interdisciplinary community and audience that would very much welcome your contribution. The Special Issue is open to original research articles, and the deadline for paper submission is September 15, 2018. All papers submitted to the Special Issue will go through the same peer-review process as regular papers. If you intend to submit a manuscript, please email either Helena Jin, Jennifer Jordan, or Wayne Chen with a tentative title at the email addresses listed below by August 15th, 2018.
 
THEME AND FOCUS OF THE SPECIAL ISSUE
Additive Manufacturing (AM) is changing the possibilities for materials mechanics due to the ability to access meso- and microstructures that have previously only been computationally possible.  AM processes are producing new microstructures, which are affecting the mechanical response of these materials.  This Special Issue of Experimental Mechanics aims to exchange the latest research advances in this highly interdisciplinary area. The focus of the Special Issue will be on experimental and integrated computational/experimental investigations from the mechanics and materials perspective. Suggested topics include but are not limited to:
- processing-structure-property relationships in additively manufactured metals, polymers, and composites
- Mechanical, thermomechancial characterization of AM materials
- Dynamic behavior of AM materials
- AM characterization at extreme environments

SUBMISSION AND REVIEW PROCESS
August 15, 2018: Interest email to guest editors with tentative title
August 15 – September 15, 2018: Website is open for manuscript submission. 
October 1 – October 31, 2018: Reviews completed and sent to authors
November 1 – December 31, 2018: Manuscript revision, resubmission, and re-review, if needed
January 31, 2019: Final manuscripts accepted
April 2019: Special Issue published in Experimental Mechanics
