About LM2

The research at LM2focuses on metals, polymers, polymer composites, nanocomposites and microsystems. It covers manufacturing, service performance, fluid-structure interactions and mechanical instabilities. Highly qualified personnel is trained in conducting high-risk, high-performance fundamental research as well as industrial research with numerous SMEs, as well as with local and international OEMs in the fields of aerospace, microsystems and energy. Our research uses theoretical, numerical and experimental approaches, and often their combination. The LM2lab hosts many equipment and facilities related to design, processing, manufacturing and characterization of nano, micro, and macro-systems including, but not limited to, several commercial 3D printers, dispensing robots, mixing equipment (e.g., micro-extruder, 3-roll mill mixer), optical microscopes, and several tensile machines. The LM2currently consists of approximately 40 permanent persons (professors, research associates, technicians, postdoctoral fellows, PhD and 4 Masters students), as well as several international interns from all over the world (China, Australia, Ireland, France). LM2promotes diversity and equity within a lively and open minded environment.
