PhD positions are available at the University of Western Australia to work on the following projects: Digital Image Correlations, Hybrid materials with tuneable mechanical properties via topological interlocking, embedded kinematic agents and internally engineered architecture (negative stiffness); Micromechanics of rock failure and advanced manufacturing of rock models by rapid prototyping; and Dynamics of systems of bilinear oscillators. The projects have industry applications in Mechanical and Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Rock Mechanics and Petroleum. Graduates with strong academic background and degrees in Mechanical, Civil and Materials Engineering, Geomechanics and Science majored in Maths, Physics and Computer Science are encouraged to apply. You must satisfy minimum requirements for English language proficiency as follows: IELTS overall 6.5 with no band less than 6.0. Successful candidates will be awarded a scholarship for three years, with a tax free value of A$30,000 per annum. Please contact Prof Elena Pasternak elena@mech.uwa.edu.au.
