Two PhD positions on programmable materials - SUNY Binghamton

We have two PhD positions starting in 8/2019 to work on Mechanics and Manufacturing of Programmable Materials. This project intends to develop new methodology to design and fabricate materials/structures that exhibit programmable morphology and/or properties under external stimuli. 

Position 1:  The student is expected to conduct experimental research on programmable materials such as material preparation, 3D/4D printing, hybrid manufacturing, material and structure testing, etc.;

Position 2:  The student will focus on the theoretical modeling and numerical simulation aspects by collaborating with the student in Position 1. 

Applicants with strong background in mechanics, mechanical, civil or materials engineering are encouraged to apply.
