We are looking for a candidate with a Ph.D. degree to study fracture problems in bimetallic pipelines,  API X65 internally clad with alloy 625. The project has direct application to offshore exploration in Brazil deepwater fields. The project is going to be funded by the Petrobras company. The chosen candidate will develop a parametric model to model the welded joint of this type of pipes using python/Abaqus, being the numerical model as close as possible to the real geometry. Fracture toughness tests will provide additional data to make predictions about the mechanical response of the clad pipe under different loading scenarios.

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate. A strong interest in developing and using numerical modeling to solve real-world problems is key to success. Background in continuum mechanics, computational modeling, fracture mechanics, programming skills with Python, experience in code development and finite element analysis are desirable.

We look forward to receiving your application, single PDF file, containing the following documents: cover letter, full CV with contact details of two referees included, academic transcripts, and journal publications if available. Please, send your information to dsarzosa@usp.br.  The project will commence in June/July 2019.

Marcelo

Does it need to be proficient in ABAQUS or ANSYS would do?
