Description
This position based in Exeter (UK), would suit a software developer looking to develop novel algorithms for software applications used by international blue chip corporations, research institutions and universities worldwide. As an algorithm development engineer you will be involved in the Simpleware ScanIP product and will develop techniques to address our customers’ needs in 3D image processing and computer vision. Other areas you may be involved with include visualisation, meshing, simulation. This varied role will involve both the refinement of existing software and helping to bring new features from initial concept through to product release.
This position is open to a wide range of candidates, from recent graduates through to experienced software engineers, with attractive remuneration at all levels.
Responsibilities
As part of the software development team, your primary duties will include:
- Developing algorithms (image processing, machine learning, computer vision, etc.).
- GUI design (intuitive 2D/3D interaction, etc.).
- Implementing, testing and documenting related software features.
- Improving, optimising and extending existing code.
Requirements - Knowledge, experience, skills, and competencies
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- A degree in Computer Science, Software engineering, Applied mathematics, or similar, preferably a first or 2:1.
- Experience/interest in Mathematics and algorithm development.
- Good knowledge and experience of C++ or Python.
- Good analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Strong desire to learn and explore new technologies.
- Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative whilst being a team player and keeping an eye on the team’s goals.
- Communicate effectively with a range of people.
- Good English.
Desirable
- Knowledge of, or interest in, the following areas may be beneficial:
- Motivation to write high quality, efficient and elegant code.
- OpenGL or DirectX.
- Class design, software architecture.
- Multithreading.
- VTK.
- ITK.
- Keras/Tensorflow.
- Visualisation and image processing libraries in general.
- Visual C++.
- Version control systems.
- Linux.
