Following the success of three former meetings (Tokyo 2011, Tokyo 2013, Brno 2016), the fourth ISAM4 meeting will be held at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany from August 5th to 8th 2019.

This symposium is intended as an international forum for the presentation and discussion of the latest scientific developments regarding the atomistic and multiscale modeling of materials. We aim at bringing together specialists from multiple disciplines to network, exchange and generate new ideas related (but not limited) to

  • Tribology, fracture and fatigue
  • Atomistic aspects of plasticity and failure
  • Structure and property of complex and disordered materials
  • Biomaterials and polymers

As well as to discuss methods for extending the time scale in atomistic simulation and the application of machine learning and data science approaches in computational material science.

Invited Speakers include:

Prof. Shigenobu Ogata (Osaka University, Japan)

Prof. James Kermode (University of Warwick, GB)

Prof. Claudia Draxl (Humboldt University, Berlin)

Prof. Jörg Neugebauer (MPI-Eisenforschung Düsseldorf)

Prof. Lars Pastewka (IMTEK, Freiburg)

Prof. Alexander Hartmaier (ICAMS, Ruhr-University Bochum)

Prof. Christian Elsässer (Fraunhofer IWM Freiburg)

Prof. Jürgen Horbach (Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf)

Dr. Mira Todorova (MPI-Eisenforschung Düsseldorf)

Dr. Jutta Rogal (ICAMS, Ruhr-University Bochum)

Prof. Dirk Zahn (FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg)
