There exist positions for postdoctoral students in the mechanical engineering department at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in the areas of a) computational solid mechanics and b) experimental methods including biomechanical characterizations, biochemistry and molecular biology.
The ideal candidate for computational solid mechanics position should have stong background in numerical simulations (e.g. FEA and MD) as well as computer programming. Previous extensive background in working with soft tissues such as cartilage and tendons among others are required for the experimental method position.
