There is a new opening for a PhD student at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of New South Wales, Sydney (Australia). We are looking for a PhD student in the broad area of computational mechanics. Candidates should have a strong background in the theory and application of the Finite Element Method (FEM) and expertise in programming (Matlab, Fortran, etc.).

The project will be focused on the development of special types of high order finite elements based on the Spectral Element Method (SEM), the p-version of the Finite Element Method (p-FEM), or isogeometric analysis (IGA). These methods will be incorporated in the context of fictitious domain approaches such as the Finite Cell Method (FCM), the Spectral Cell Method (SCM), or CutFEM.

Please send a CV, a brief summary of research interests and skills, published journal articles, under- and postgraduate transcripts, and the names, affiliations, phone numbers, and email addresses of three references to

s.duczek@unsw.edu.au

Evaluation of candidates will begin immediately and will continue until the opening is filled. This position is available at 01/01/2019.
