PhD position at the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney): Computational Mechanics (January 2020)

There is a new opening for a PhD student at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of New South Wales, Sydney (Australia). We are looking for a PhD student in the broad area of computational mechanics. Candidates should have a strong background in the theory and application of the Finite Element Method (FEM) and expertise in programming (Matlab, Fortran, etc.).

The project will be focused on the development of special types of high order finite elements based on the Spectral Element Method (SEM), the p-version of the Finite Element Method (p-FEM), or isogeometric analysis (IGA). These methods will be incorporated in the context of fictitious domain approaches such as the Finite Cell Method (FCM), the Spectral Cell Method (SCM), or CutFEM.
