Combined experimental and numerical study of uniaxial compression failure of hardened cement paste at micrometre length scale

Our group has recently published an article in which, for the very first time, we measure the compressive strength of hydrated cement paste at multi-metre length scale. This study shows that microscopic strength of cement-based materials is many times higher compared to their macroscopic strength.
