PhD Opportunities in Mechanics and Materials at the University of Birmingham

We are seeking motivated PhD students with a background in mechanical engineering, material science, physics, chemistry, or in a closely related field. Candidates with interests in (but not limited to) one or more of the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply:

· Material properties under high strain rate deformation;

· Energy absorption and protection against impact, vibration and blast;

· Nanoporous materials, including MOFs, zeolites, and silica;

· Nanofluidics and microfluidics;

· Micromechanics and applications of nano-architected materials;

· Vehicle safety and traffic accidents.
