A postdoc position is available in the area of granular mechanics and discrete element modeling (DEM) of biomass particles in support of a multidisciplinary research project between Clemson University and the Department of Energy’s Idaho National Laboratory (INL).
The ideal candidate must have a strong background and research experience in computational mechanics. Experience in open-source DEM packages and computer programming is highly desirable. The postdoc will be responsible for DEM modeling of biomass particle fracturing and for X-ray CT image-based characterization of microscale fracturing.
The initial appointment of the position is 1 year starting summer 2020. The primary location of this position will be Clemson University, but a considerable amount of the work may also be performed at INL under the supervision of INL scientists.
