1. Demonstrate the existence of ferroelectric creep in simulated ferroelectric samples.

2. Provide an explanation for the evolution mechanism of polarization based on the configurational force theory.

 

Scientific question

The electro-mechanical coupling behaviors and the evolution mechanism of microstructure in ferroelectric devices with interdigital electrodes are investigated in this research.

 

Key of how

Time-dependent polarization and its evolution law are successfully simulated by phase field modeling while the electro-mechanical coupling behaviors and the mechanism of microstructure evolutions are well investigated and explained based on the configurational force theory.

 

Major points

1. According to phase field modeling results, ferroelectric creep appears in the simulated ferroelectric-based samples even under an applied electric field below the coercive value.

2. Results show that configurational force has similar evolution laws to polarization in both time evolving and space distribution for simulated ferroelectrics

3. With configurational force, it is possible to predict the direction of polarization evolution and explore its evolution mechanism in ferroelectrics.

4. Size configuration of the interdigital electrodes should be considered since it has a significant influence on the electro-mechanical properties of ferroelectrics with time accumulation.
