Article Tittle: A New ANCF Solid-Beam Element: Relationship with Bézier Volume and Application on Leaf Spring Modeling

Author: Zuqing Yu, Yaqi Cui

Novelty/impact/significance

1. Develop a new type of ANCF beam element which can accurately discretize the geometry represented by Bezier volume with the same basis function order. …

2. The complex geometry and connection relationship of the leaf spring suspension system can be efficiently modeled.

Scientific question

When the research of integration of ANCF element and Bezier geometry involves the surface and volume cases, there will be redundant degree of freedoms introduced by the rigid tensor product structure of the Bezier formulation.

Key of how

Extend the relationship established at the one and two dimension cases to the volume case to create the new ANCF element.

Major points

1. The linear conversion relationship is built between the ANCF fully parameterized element with the Bezier volume.

2. The proposed element reaches good balance between the accuracy and efficiency.

3. The proposed beam element can be assembled at any direction so the complex geometry of the parabolic leaf spring can be efficiently modeled.

Funding of the work

1. National science foundation of China (Grant No. 11802072)

2. Key project of science and technology of Hu’nan province (Grant No. 2018GK1040)
