Are you interested in a funded PhD position? Do you have B.S. in Civil/Mechanical Engineering or M.S. in Structural/Geotechnical Engineering? Join our dynamic research team where you can work on ground-breaking discoveries in the interdisciplinary field of “Multiphysics at interfaces in porous materials”.

The Program:

The Engineering Science and Geotechnical Engineering and Geomechanics Programs at the University of Colorado Boulder focus on building a strong knowledge background for PhD students who are interested in research in a variety of fields. We have excellent faculty who:

·      Provide top notch courses in analytical mechanics, computational mechanics, and applied mathematics.

·      Guide you towards innovative research ideas.

·      Help you build foundations in knowledge and experience that can launch you towards your future goals.

The Position:

We are seeking a PhD student with passion for mechanics and physics to work in a funded graduate research assistant (GRA) position at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder), CEAE department, starting Spring or Fall 2022.

What we want to see in you:

·       Anticipated or recently obtained (<1 year) B.S. in Civil/Mechanical Engineering or M.S. in Structural/Geotechnical Engineering.

·       Strong background in physics, solid mechanics, and mathematics.

·       Candidates who are self-driven in learning new knowledge.

·       Candidates who demonstrate excellent research ability.

What you will do:

·       Perform theoretical mechanics research on the behavior of porous materials with focus on physiochemical processes at the solid-surface interface.

Why Should You Apply?

·       Teaching Assistantship and Research Assistantship (~$2600 per month) with tuition coverage for 4 years.

·       Great health insurance benefits.

·       Excellent faculty and coursework options.
