Fully Funded PhD Positions in Mechanical Engineering at North Carolina State University for Fall 2022 in Mechanics and Materials
Overview
Dr. Jingjie Hu’s group in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at North Carolina State University (NC State) has openings for fully funded Ph.D. positions in the areas of Mechanics and Materials for Fall 2022. Research in the group focuses on the mechanical behaviors of biomedical relevant systems and materials, using combined experimental and theoretical approaches (https://jingjiehu.com).
Qualification
Highly-motivated students with Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from all engineering and science backgrounds, especially in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Physics, are encouraged to apply. Research experience in atomic force microscopy, mechanics, characterization, nanoindentation and material fabrication is desired but not required.

About Dr. Hu
Dr. Hu received her Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University and her B.S.E in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan. Before joining NC State, she completed her post-doctoral training in bioengineering at Mayo Clinic. Her work is highly interdisciplinary, and has been published in high impact journals, including Advanced Materials, Advanced Science, Science Translational Medicine and Acta Biomaterialia.
Dr. Hu is also an associate faculty in the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at UNC-Chapel Hill & NC State, and a member of the Comparative Medicine Institute at NC State.
