I have an immediate opening for a postdoc position in my group at Columbia University:

The project is funded by an industry partner and is available for one year with an option for extension to a second year. The successful candidate will work directly with me on an exciting design optimization project related to manufacturing of metal components with direct impact on industry, and will have the chance to interact with our industry partner.
Requirements:
- Strong background in the finite element method and mechanics of materials is a must.
- Proven record (e.g. publications, conference presentations, thesis) in topology optimization of structures is a must
- Proficiency in computer programming is a must
- Background in inelastic design, metal plasticity and structural stability is a big plus
- Knowledge of gradient based and adjoint formulations in topology optimization is a big plus
- Knowledge of parallel computing using OpenMP or MPI is a big plus
- Knowledge in damage mechanics, e.g. phase field methods is a plus.
