Antonio Papangelo wins prestigeous ERC grant and is nominated Associate Professor with tenure by Italian Minister of Research

Submitted by Mike Ciavarella on

dear all

just a quick note to congratulate my former phd student Antonio Papangelo who has recently won the most prestigious European grant (ERC starting grant) and was just nominated Associate Professor with tenure directly from the Minister of Italian Research by a special call, jumping all steps in career!

After Paolo Decuzzi, my first phd student and also excellent researcher, who had already moved to the US when he won the ERC grant, he is my second student winning a prestigious ERC grant, and the first to win it in the entire history of the Politecnico di BARI: not bad since I have had maybe 5 phd students in total :)))

Thanks to all our friends and coauthors, prof. Norbert Hoffmann in particular, for their help and support, considering our very limited resources in the south of Italy, as a group we are quite proud of Antonio's success.    Feel free to contact Antonio for any details about his ambitious ERC grant which concerns developing patterned surfaces exploiting van der Waals adhesion controlled by microvibrations.

Regards

Mike
