giulia scalet's picture

A postdoctoral position will be available at University of Pavia in Italy starting January 2023. The position will be part of an ERC Starting project. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Dr Giulia Scalet (giulia.scalet@unipv.it).

Description: The postdoctoral researcher will work on new conformal and quasi-conformal approaches for morphing structures using theoretical and numerical methods. The position will be part of an ERC Starting Grant “COmputational DEsign for 4D BIOfabrication: harnessing programmable materials for dynamic pre-clinical cancer models” led by Dr Giulia Scalet. This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary international research environment at the interface between material science/engineering, maths, and computational mechanics and to work closely with cancer researchers. Please visit our website for further information: https://www.code4bio.com.

Qualifications: Applicants must have (or about to receive) a PhD degree in mathematics or computer science (or a closely related discipline). The successful candidate should have a strong mathematical background on partial differential equations (PDEs), numerical PDE and programming skills (preferably, Matlab, C++ and Pytorch). Experience on differential geometry, conformal geometry and quasi-conformal geometry will be a plus.

Duration: the initial term will be one year, preferably starting January 2023. The contract can be extended up to three years based on performance.

Salary: commensurate to candidate’s experience.

Location: Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture, University of Pavia, via Ferrata 3, 27100 Pavia, Italy.

For more information, please contact Dr Giulia Scalet (giulia.scalet@unipv.it). Interested candidates are encouraged to include a CV and a summary of relevant experience.
