It is with great sadness that we post this entry.  Keh-Chih Hwang passed away in Beijing this afternoon, 6 December 2022.

Keh-Chih Hwang was a very accomplished and influential Professor of Engineering Mechanics at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, the recipient of numerous honors and awards, and a prolific writer and author of both books and hundreds of professional articles and had an international reputation for his research activities.  Keh-Chih Hwang was elected a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1991, and became a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2003.  He was elected as a vice president in 1989 and Honorary Fellow in 2001 of the International Congress of Fracture (ICF), a council member of the International Congress of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ICTAM), and a member of the standing committee of the International Congress of Materials.  His greatest role was as a respected teacher and mentor.  He has had around 100 graduate students, many of whom have gone on to have distinguished careers themselves (e.g., six were elected to CAS).

We mourn Keh-Chih's passing with deep sadness and remember his vitality and friendship fondly.
