Ph.D. and Postdoctoral positions at the University of Connecticut

The Wang Research lab (https://www.wangresearchlab.com) in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) and the Institute of Materials Science (IMS) at the University of Connecticut (UConn) has multiple Ph.D. positions and postdoc positions with details described below.

 

Ph.D. positions

Research: Research topics include (1) Mechanics of active materials like liquid crystal elastomers, (2) Design and fabrication of flexible electronics to interface with biological tissues and organoids. Our research is highly multidisciplinary and lies at the intersection of mechanics, materials, electronics and biology. Students who are interested in any of those related areas are welcome to apply.

Qualifications:

·        A bachelor's degree in Engineering Mechanics, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related area

·        A M.S. degree with project experience and publications is preferred but not required

 

Start date: Fall 2023.

Postdoc position

Research: The candidates is expected to have research experiences or background in one or more of the following research areas:

 

·        Bioelectronic devices (thermal, oxygen sensors) and/or biochemical sensors

·        Microfluidic devices

·        Cell culture and organoids

Start date: Available immediately, open until filled.
