One PhD student is sought to fill an opening in the Gross Materials Lab (group website: andrewjgross.com) at the University of South Carolina. This research is focused on developing predictive models for how damage forms in carbon/carbon composites during manufacturing. This research will be primarily computational and provide opportunities to work closely with a team of researchers that are conducting experiments. Students must be capable coders and a US citizen to be considered. Students interested in or having prior experience with finite element modeling, mechanical property testing, and composite materials are strongly encouraged to apply.
To be considered, please e-mail your CV to Professor Andrew Gross at andrewgross [at] sc.edu. Applications will be reviewed starting on July 20th. I will add a comment on this posting once a hire has been finalized.
