PhD Position Available in Engineering Science and Mechanics at Penn State

Multiple PhD positions are available in the areas of elastodynamic modeling, elastic waves, scattering theory, metamaterials, and micromechanics.

A strong background in mechanics is required.

Desired skills include:

• intermediate to advanced mathematics,
• familiarity with polycrystals and microstructure,
• experience with finite element modeling such as Abaqus or Comsol,
• ability to leverage language learning models in research settings,
• ability to verbally articulate research aims and findings
