Visiting Research Professor

The Manufacturing Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alabama is looking for a highly driven Visiting Research Professor to join the lab. Our group focuses on developing advanced surface engineering techniques, particularly laser-based methods, and conducting experiments to deepen our understanding of the microstructure-property-process relationship.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or green card holders. The chosen candidate will collaborate closely with the lab's principal investigator, Dr. Keivan Davami, contributing to ongoing projects rather than focusing on a singular research area. This role offers a comprehensive career development opportunity involving engagement in various research projects, student advising, teaching, and proposal writing—ideal for those aiming for academic careers.

The ideal candidate should have strong proficiency in materials science, with hands-on experience in advanced microscopy (SEM, TEM, EBSD) and other common materials characterization techniques. Additionally, the candidate will support Dr. Davami in mentoring the lab's research assistants (Ph.D. students) to ensure the successful completion of the lab's sponsored projects.

Interested applicants are encouraged to contact Dr. Keivan Davami at kdavami@eng.ua.edu.
