Dear Colleague,

I'm delighted to be able to inform you about two tenure-track faculty searches at UC Berkeley. Details on the searches can be found below.

I would appreciate your help promoting these opportunities in your communities.

Best wishes,

Oliver

First, my home department, Mechanical Engineering, has a  faculty search for an Assistant Professor in Fluids or Dynamics is now live, through Friday, Nov. 15, 2024!

The department seeks candidates whose research is in the core areas of Dynamics or Fluid Mechanics. All qualified applicants working on contemporary topics in either of these core areas, or cross-cutting research related to these core areas, will be considered. We seek candidates that can develop and lead a vibrant research program, as well as provide instructional excellence in undergraduate and graduate education.

The Mechanical Engineering undergraduate and graduate programs are both consistently ranked within the top 3 - 4 programs nationally, attracting some of the most qualified and diverse students and researchers. Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, the foremost technology hub in the United States, the ME department has strong connections with many of the world’s leading companies. Department faculty benefit from affiliations and collaborations with a variety of premier research centers located in proximity to campus, including the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, UC San Francisco Medical Center, NASA Ames Research Center, and many others.

Second, The CoE-wide faculty search in Aerospace Engineering is also now open, through Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, and you are encouraged to disseminate this opportunity broadly as well.

The College of Engineering of UC Berkeley, seeks candidates for a tenure track or tenured (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) position. The College seeks candidates with expertise in the area of Aerospace Engineering. The successful candidate would conduct research and teach undergraduate courses in sustainable propulsion, materials under extreme conditions, astrodynamics, dynamics/controls of space structures, hypersonics, eVTOL infrastructure, or other areas of contemporary interest in aerospace engineering. The successful candidate would be offered the opportunity to formally affiliate with one or more of the existing academic departments in the College of Engineering, commensurate with their area of technical expertise.
