MMF-based Failure and Life of Composites. An Internet Course offered through WebEx

Tsai, of Stanford University.  After well received, successful completion of Composites Design Tutorial-1, we are pleased to announce Composites Design Tutorial-2 starting on April 8, 2008. This tutorial, comprising of twelve weekly 120-minute live sessions, is offered over the Internet using the cutting edge WebEx application with VoIP. The tutorial is offered to the Eastern and Western Worlds at convenient local time followed by active Q&A in English and other three languages for extended period. This allows the participants to access the tutorial contents on demand 24/7, even after the live tutorial sessions.

The foundation of our theory is MMF (micromechanics of failure).  Important progress has been made in the theory, test data and numerical implementation into a preliminary design tool in Super Mic-Mac+. A new theory in generating master curves with standardization will also be offered. Other new subjects for Composites Design Tutorial-2 include:

• Out-of-plane strength and bolted joints
• Much improved Super Mic-Mac+ harnessing the power of Micro Mechanics of Failure
• New Mic-Mac/FEA
• Demonstration of tools such as Mic-Mac and Abaqus in composites design
• Practical "hands on" problem assignments commented on the classes

This series of tutorial features lectures from experts around the globe from companies, institutes involved in the cutting edge research and applications of composites. 

Registration Fee:

• US$1,500 per connection for institutions for one participant
• Special $500 per connection for Tutorial 1 participants
• $150 for each extra participant ($75 fee for 2 CEU's)
• Full-time students free after professor/department signs up for one connection

Fee includes textbook, Simulia/Abaqus student edition, design tools and free download of all documents/tools.
