PhD Positions at Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen
The Mechanics of Functional Ceramics group (https://faculty.hitsz.edu.cn/yanzilin) at HITsz, led by Dr. Zilin Yan, Associate Professor, is seeking highly motivated Ph.D. students in the following areas.
1. Solving multiphysics coupled problems in energy conversion and storage devices: Utilizing advanced computational tools—such as discrete element method, kinetic Monte Carlo method, lattice Boltzmann method, molecular dynamics, density functional theory (DFT), finite element method (FEM), peridynamics, and phase-field method—to tackle complex challenges in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), solid oxide electrolysis cells (SOECs), dielectric capacitors, and solid-state batteries.
2. Materials and device development: Collaborating with computational team members to synthesize novel materials and devices for energy conversion and storage, while also overseeing performance evaluations at both the materials and device levels.
3. Scientific machine learning: Developing theories and methods that leverage data mining, machine learning, and deep learning techniques to enhance computational mechanics and computational materials science.
Requirements:
Candidate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanics, Materials Science, Computational Science, or related disciplines.
The Ph.D. program will start in September 2025 and lasts 4 years (for those with a Master's degree) or 5 years (for those with a Bachelor's degree).
Ph.D. studentships include tuition and competitive scholarships. http://global.hitsz.edu.cn/Study_at_HITSZ/International_Students.htm.
