Senior Systems Engineer

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related engineering field; Marine, Electrical, or Mechanical. Electrical Engineering is preferred.

• Some Experience in design of shipboard propulsion and control systems.

• Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical, and ship drawings.

• Familiarity with military specifications and ABS rules for shipboard systems.

• Excellent communications skills, both oral and written, is a must.

• Familiarity with Autocad, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office suite of programs is required.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in design and commissioning of shipboard integrated electric propulsion systems

Experience with PLC system configuration and programming

Experience with system testing and troubleshooting.



Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The senior system engineer is responsible for technical performance in all stages of a project. Works closely with all departments such as project management, purchasing, production, test and quality assurance to ensure a quality system is produced and delivered in a timely manner.





JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

Essential Duties:

• Analyze Program technical requirements and develop program specific work breakdown structures and work schedules for system design team

• Leads the overall system level design, including: development of equipment, schematics, diagrams, reports, and sub-system specifications.

• Participates in the technical evaluation of major vendors

• Responsible for detail design of electrical and electronic systems and subsystems for assigned program.

• Is primary technical Point of Contact (POC) for customer

• Leads project team in development of all project documentation as required by the contract.

• Coordinates all submittals and obtains approvals and certifications from the various regulatory bodies as required by contract.

• Perform other technical project related duties as required.

Physical working environment: Normal work is conducted in an office setting.
