smoothing length in SPH

abshaw's picture

Hi there,

Is there any basis for chosing the h/deltaP (where h and deltaP are respectively the smoothing length and particle spacing ) ratio in SPH. Is it purely based on some numerical experiment?

Thanks,

Amit

hello Amit ,

I am trying simple sph model   in which tool roate 1000 rpm and pluge  down 2 e-3 m/sec velocity for  very small end time 1 e-3 sec in ls-dyna.

But i am getting  at 0 time step itself all sph nodes shoots and moreover tool flys ..I want to see some movement of toolin work ..can you tell me what i am overlooking ?

thanks in advance

The smoothed length h usually was given a value between 3*dx and 4.5*dx, which dx means the distance of nearby particle.

sorry , i couldn't edit the above comment , then this is true .The smoothed length h usually was given a value between dx and 1.5*dx, which dx means the distance of nearby particle.
