Symposium on

Mechanics of Nano-, Bio- and Cellular Materials

The objective of this symposium is to discuss recent advances in mechanics of nano-, bio- and cellular materials and to identify future research opportunities in the subject area. Innovative theoretical, computational and experimental approaches will be discussed.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Multiscale simulations involving molecular dynamics, micromechanics and continuum mechanics
  • Processing-structure-property relations for micro- and nanostructured materials
  • Nanocomposites reinforced by carbon nanotubes or other nanoparticles
  • Biological and bio-inspired materials
  • Nonlinear elasticity and biomechanics
  • Cellular materials and structures, including honeycombs, auxetic foams, truss core and frame structures, and sandwich composites with foam cores
  • Multifunctional behavior and failure of foamed materials
  • Plasticity and dislocation dynamics
  • Size effects and nanoindentation techniques
  • Non-local and higher-order continuum theories

Interested authors are invited to submit an abstract by November 30, 2006 through the conference website.
