RAA, Inc. is seeking candidates
for the position described below:
Title of Position: Lead Mechanical Engineer IV
Type of Position: Full-time, permanent Company: RAA Client
Location: Near Hanover, Germany
Responsibilities: Apply
knowledge of analytical and empirical methods and tools to predict residual
life capability of mechanical drill string components which can be used for
effective life management. This includes:

Establishing mission profiles which
represent operational conditions and environment.
·
Performing structural analyses to define
time dependent stress history.
·
Developing damage accumulation models and
maintenance factors for critical features and failure modes.
·
Evaluating designs for life capability /
limitations and potential life extension opportunities.
·
Reviewing repair and maintenance procedures
for potential improvements, including retirement policies, repair and rework
criteria, and preventive / condition-based maintenance.
·
Supporting root cause and corrective action
programs to reduce down hole failures and improve product reliability.
·
Developing new and improving existing
approaches and methodology to better reflect component stress behavior and
residual life.
·
Providing consultation and participating in
technical reviews with design engineering and product reliability teams.
·
Actively supporting new technology programs.
Summarizing and applying lessons learned to benefit the reliability of future
designs of drilling systems.
Requirements:
- Strong written and
oral communication and presentation skills. - Strong analytical and
problem solving skills. - Good cross-functional
integration and teaming skills.
Education, Experience and Training:
Minimum -
·
BS in Mechanical Engineering
·
6+ years experience in mechanical design and
/ or life management in the Oil and Gas industry or related field
·
Strong computer skills, in particular MS
Office and programming expertise
·
Experience with solid modeling (i.e. UG) and
finite element modeling (i.e. ANSYS)
Desired -
·
MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering
·
Background in low cycle fatigue, crack
growth, dynamics and interaction effects
·
Familiarity with data analysis techniques
·
Understanding of probability and statistics
·
Familiarity with vibration theory; fluid
flow (CFD) and heat transfer
