Call for Abstracts for Dynamic Behavior Track at 2009 SEM Annual Conference & Exposition, June 1-3 2009, Albuquerque NM

Dynamic Behavior of Materials Track at 2009 SEM Annual Conference & Exposition on Experimental and Applied Mechanics,

June 1-3, 2009 Albuquerque, NM

Abstract Deadline: October 16th, 2008

Sponsored by: The SEM Dynamic Behavior of Materials Technical Division

Organized by: Kathryn A. Dannemann (Chair), Southwest Research Institute;

                        Vijay Chalivendra (Vice Chair), University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth;

                        Bo Song (Secretary), Sandia National Laboratories

A growing number of military, industry, and academic engineering problems are addressing the response of materials that have been subjected to dynamic loadings. SEM continues to support this growing research area and is sponsoring this track to provide a forum for the open exchange of information among researchers interested in the dynamic response and behavior of materials. Technical contributions in the following general areas are sought:

Biomaterials •

Brittle Materials •

Composite Materials •

Dynamic Fracture and Failure •

Explosives and Applications•

High Pressure/Shear Response•

Low Impedance Materials •

Metallic Materials •

Modeling of Dynamic Response •

Monitoring of High Strain Rate • Deformation

Novel Testing Techniques•

Reactive Materials
BEST PAPER AWARD:

This year the TD will institute a Best Paper award for the Dynamic Behavior Track.  Only full papers published in the proceedings will be considered for the award.

Half-Day Preconference Course:

The technical division will sponsor a half-day “Split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) Tutorial” pre-conference course and several keynote/invited talks at 2009 SEM Annual Conference.

ElectronicSubmissions

SEM will only accept electronic submissions for the 2009 SEM Annual Conference. Details about submitting abstracts and the electronic submission form are on the SEM website:

sem.org

All abstracts will be received electronically. No copies are required for electronic submission. Do not fax. Do not send duplicate submissions. Accepted papers will also be received electronically, per guidelines on the SEM website, and only a CD-ROM Proceedings will be available for the 2009 SEM Annual Conference.
