Postdoctoral Fellowship at CSIRO, Melbourne, Australia

Yuri Estrin's picture

Applications are invited for an OCE Postdoctoral Fellowship in the research area "Local Property Enhancement in Light Alloys". The appoitment, for a period of three years. will be with the Light Metals Flagship and CSIRO Division of Materials Science and Engineering.

The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team, led by Professor Yuri Estrin, to research targeted local processing of light alloy components (based on aluminium, magnesium and titanium) by introducing severe plastic deformation to form ultra-fine grained microstructures and nanostructures in near-surface and surface regions, thereby optimising structural and functional properties for enhanced global behaviour. Our research approach will combine experiments, characterisation and analytical and physical modelling and simulations to achieve an understanding of the physical mechanisms operating in ultra-fine grained and nanostructured metallic materials.

Details of the position can be found on the CSIRO website: www.csiro.au
