Tenure Track Faculty Position at North Carolina State University

The Department of Civil Engineering at NCSU has an opening for tenure track faculty position in the general areas of Structural Engineering and/or Mechanics. The plan is to hire the best candidate irrespective of the specific area of research focus. Tenure Track Faculty Position in Structural Engineering and Mechanics

The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at North Carolina State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in theoretical, computational and/or experimental research spanning multiple scales in the general area of Structural Engineering and Mechanics. The anticipated start date of the appointment is August 16, 2010 and is expected to be at the assistant professor level although applicants at higher levels will be given serious consideration. We are seeking an outstanding candidate to join a vibrant department of more than 40 faculty (10 in Structural Engineering and Mechanics), and 290 graduate students (90 in Structural Engineering and Mechanics). The department houses unique experimental facilities capable of testing nano to full scale structural systems, as well as high performance computing facilities for simulation of complex systems. The university is located on adjacent campuses, including its Centennial Campus which houses numerous state of the art research facilities.

An earned doctorate degree in civil engineering or a closely related field is required. The successful applicant will be expected to develop and sustain a recognized research program within their area of expertise and contribute to the teaching mission of the graduate and undergraduate programs of the department. Review of applications will begin December 1, 2009 and the position will remain open until filled.
