Analytic Vs Experimental Solution for a simple beam experiment

Submitted by Zartasha Mustansar on

Dear Abaqus Users.

Can anyone pleasehelp me regarding the solution of a simple beam experiment.

I am trying to findthe tip displacement of a cantilever beam and compare the outputs with"Analytic solution" to confirm FE results.

The assumptions thatI am following are:

Length=200mm

Width=20mm

Depth/Thickness=25mm

Force/Load = 100N(concentrated force)

E=209.E3

Poisson's ratio=0.3

Number of elementsused for meshing = 29

Types of elements Iam using for Cantilever beam are:

C3D4

C3D10

C3D8

C3D20

CPS3

CPS6

CPS4

CPS8

But, the values I amgetting after settting up the experiments for all of the above in Abaqus giveme results equal to 0.012 almost, which is not very close to the analyticsolution (that gives me the value of 0.049 after computing in tip displacementequation).

Apologies for beingsooo elaborative explaining a simple problem but can anyone please advise,where I am going wrong? Is it the model assumption or the analytic solutionwhich went wrong?

Many thanks for thesupport in advance.
