Postdoctoral Position in Biomedical Engineering

A postdoctoral research position is available in Dr. Rugonyi’s lab in the Biomedical Engineering (BME) Division of the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, OR.  We are looking for a self-motivated researcher to work full time on projects related to blood flow dynamics and biotransport.  The selected candidate will have many opportunities to collaborate with the researchers in our team as well as across the university and to generate new approaches to study blood flow, biotransport and/or responses of the underlying tissue.

Candidate to be considered for this position must have: i) strong background in continuum mechanics (fluids, solids and mass transport); ii) strong background in the development/implementation of finite element methods (knowledge of immersed finite element methods or immersed boundary methods is a plus); and iii) strong programming skills (MatLab, C/C++).  PhD in a relevant field is required.  Candidates must also have a demonstrated ability for independent research, strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team.  Experience in cardiovascular mechanics is not required but it is preferred, however, a strong desire to apply finite element methods and computational modeling in the rapidly growing area of cardiovascular mechanics is a must.

Interested candidates should contact Dr. Rugonyi at rugonyis@ohsu.edu.  Please include in the email: i) CV, ii) statement of research interests, iii) names and emails of three references, and iv) copy of one representative publication showing the candidate’s previous research work.
