Abaqus Help
I am very new in using ABAQUS and learning through several internet tutorial resources. But the very first problem which I am facing is running an input file in the ABAQUS/CAE 6.9-1 software. My operating system is XP and it is by clicking the abaqus icon the license manager and the abaqus/cae 6.9-1 view port window opens. Then at the below portion at command prompt I typed " abaqus job=tutorial" (without the "" symbol) but it shows syntex error. I store the tutorial.inp file in the same work directory. My work directory is different from the directory where abaqus is being installed(C:\). But this command of running .inp file is being suggested by many sources even buy iMechanica. I tried with other input file given in the abaqus help documentation.So I don't think it's a error inside the input file. There may be other reason.Pleasre help me out of this problem and let me know how to run an input file. I am trying to solve this for one month. Anyone please solve this problem. I took the tutorial.inp file from the brown university site http://www.engin.brown.edu/courses/en175/abaqustut/abaqustut.htm

Run "Start -> All Programs -> Abaqus 6.9-1 -> Abaqus cae"
When CAE opens choose the default which will create a model called "Model-1" with nothing in it.
Click "File -> Import -> Model "
Change File filter to "Abaqus input file"
Choose your input file. That will load the input file.
Go to Jobs and start a job if you already have one set up in the input file. Otherwise create a job and run.

I'd avoid using the command line unless your model contains features that cannot be handled by CAE or you want to run CAE and a job at the same time.
The command line has the form
abaqus job=YourJob input=YourJob.inp
It's hard to say exactly what your problem might be. You haven't provided us with the error messages that you get. "Not working" is not adequate information :)
Windows must be able to find the abaqus executable. Just type "abaqus" and see it it finds abaqus. If not add the location of the abaqus executable to your path. You'll probably find instructions on how to add a path on the web.
If the file "YourJob.inp" can't be found you'll have to run abaqus from the directory in which the input file is kept.

Substructures and submodeling
can anyone tell me about how to create substructures and submodels in
abaqus? it is not much clear from abaqus documentation. it would also be
helpful if anyone knows about some video tutorials about this.
i know the theory behind the substructures and submodeling. i just
wanted to apply that in abaqus to model planetary gear system. i
analysed it using normal techniques in abaqus but i want more accurate
results and i also hav to reduce the computational time using
substructure and submodeling technique.
so let me know the procedure to create substructures and submodels in
abaqus. as i mentioned its nt much clear from documentation.
also i would like to know how the submodel can be generated using pythion scripting
