Set up your ResearcherID, and let the world know about your publications

Submitted by Zhigang Suo on

In 2008 I wrote about ResearcherID, a service provided by the publisher of the Web of Science.  The service is now used by many mechanicians.  Here are several examples:

You can sort each list of publications in several ways:  by title, by times cited, and by date added.  You can also view citation metrics such as the total number of articles in the list, the sum of times cited, and the h-index.

Here is how to set up your own ResearcherID:

  • Go to Web of Science through your institution, as if you were searching for a paper.
  • Sign in with the Web of Science.
  • On the right side, register with ResearcherID
  • Click Add Publications, and you can begin to add papers to your account.

You can place a link to your ResearcherID on your website.  You can also add your ResearcherID to your iMechanica profile.  Your ResearcherID will appear on the user list, and will also appear every time someone clicks your photo.

Let us know if you have found other uses of ResearcherID.

This can be considered as one example of Universal ID system for everything.  It definitely make our life and work more convenient and efficient in the positive side.

Also the iMechanican site can also linked to the linkedin so the publicity of many events can also be made.  Please check out at Linkedin.  Many imechanicians are already there.
