Postdoctoral Research Associate Positionon Acoustic Metamaterials
The Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering at Kansas State University invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate position. The primary responsibility of the position is to conduct research on sonic crystals and acoustic metamaterials. The position is supported by an externally funded project by the federal government. The position is temporary appointment initially set for one year, and renewable contingent upon the performance and funding availability. The expected starting date is January 15, 2011. Required qualifications include: an earned Ph.D. in related fields such as applied mechanics, mechanical engineering, physics, and applied mathematics. Preferred skills include: familiarity with wave dynamics of various mechanical waves such as acoustic and elastic waves, multi-physics finite element analysis tools and procedures, and numerical computations that involving programming with high-level programming languages such as C++. The project also involves international collaborations, thus it is also preferred that the applicant would be able to obtain visa for short visits to collaborating institution in Europe without trouble.
