Two PhD student positions are available in the broad areas of solid, fracture and computational mechanics at the Department of Mechanical, Material and Aerospace Engineering (MMAE), the University of Central Florida (UCF), Orlando, FL. The projects include mechanical properties (elasticity, plasticity and fracture) characterization of new materials including advanced high strength steels, magnesium alloys, aluminum alloys, carbon nanotube composites, and so on. Those materials have great application potentials for automotive, aerospace, energy and defense industries. The research will involve extensive material testing and finite element modeling, which will be conducted at the Laboratory of Solid and Structure Mechanics at UCF.

To apply, please send me your resume and representative publications to yuanli_bai@mail.ucf.edu. The positions will start on Fall 2011.
