nonlinear buckling analysis in ansys
Sun, 2011-03-13 06:41 - firozahmed49
hi, i am modeling a composite shell in ansys for nonlinear bucklin analysis.
i have to apply a displacement from one end keeping radial and circumferential degree constant. I have used shell 4node 181 for modelling and element elemrnt size 10.
Also i have to applied a torque of 0.0005 degree so as to perform torsional analysis on shell.
I am confused how to apply this axial displacement and radial degree of displacement to shell in ANSYS 11.
PLEASE ANYONE HELP ME HERE!!!!!!!!!!!

re:ramadas
hi,
i have to validate my results with those of the available experimental results.
I am requried to do a nonlinear buckling analysis on composite shell. i have modlled the shells based on the data mentioned in the research paper and meshes with all boundary condition i.e fixing one of the open side of the cylindrical shell with all degree of freedom constant. In doing so i have created two master nodes one at 0,0,0 and other at 0,0,l (length) of the shell. in doing so i made this faces as a rigid region.
now, during experiments, they clamped the specimen between the two platform in which one is fixed and from other end they applied rammed movement along the axial downword direction in a controlled manner. this displacement is 0.15mm/min to calculated the critical buckling load.
similarly they perform torsion test by giving a radial dispalcement at one of the end of the shell of value 0.0015degree.
now my query is how to use this data for analysis in ANSYS to get critical buckling load in compression as well as in torsion.
plz help
thankyou.
