buckling of CFRP under combine axial compression and torsion loading.

Submitted by firozahmed49 on

hi,

I have to perform an non-linear buckling analysis over CFRP cylindrical shell in ansys. now i am little bit confuse how to perform this combined loading in ansys.in order to buckle some impurities (pertubation/imperfection ) must be included into the shell as this combine loading is purely in-plane loading case. this impurities i was including by performing a eigen value buckling during pure torsional loading and pure axial compression individually. but this is not much convinient during combine loading.

So my quries are

how to apply a torsional moment to shell made up of composite in ANSYS

Submitted by firozahmed49 on

HI,
I am performing a non linear buckling analysis in ansys using shell 181 element. My geometry is made up of composite material and has a shell structure. The shell is subjected to torsion at one end so as to buckle throughout it length. the other end is fully constraint.
My problem is how to apply this torsional moment at the free end.
anybody please help me.

nonlinear buckling analysis in ansys

Submitted by firozahmed49 on

hi, i am modeling a composite shell in ansys for nonlinear bucklin analysis.

i have to apply a displacement from one end keeping radial and circumferential degree constant. I have used shell 4node 181 for modelling and element elemrnt size 10.

Also i have to applied a torque of 0.0005 degree so as to perform torsional analysis on shell.

I am confused how to apply this axial displacement and radial degree of displacement to shell in ANSYS 11.

PLEASE ANYONE HELP ME HERE!!!!!!!!!!!
