Postdoctoral position in computational fluid-metamaterial interaction

Submitted by Harold S. Park on

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and independent postdoctoral researcher to work in the area of computational fluid-metamaterial interaction.  The postdoctoral position is focused on implementing mechanical models for metamaterials into a computational fluid dynamics code to investigate the resulting fluid-metamaterial interaction.  This project will involve collaboration with other research teams at the University of Illinois and Caltech.

The ideal candidate will have:  (1) A PhD in Mechanical Engineering, computational mechanics, or a related field.  (2) A strong background in formulating and implementing field theories or constitutive models within a high performance computing environment; (3)  Familiarity with computational fluid dynamics; (4) A collaborative mindset

Position details:   The position is available for a 1-year duration, with possible extension to 18-24 months depending on the availability of funding.  Professional development opportunities including workshops, conferences, collaborations with investigators at multiple universities.  Expected start date is Early 2027.
