I have used cohesive elements to create cracks now I am interested to seal the created cracks in order to study stress changes so I need to add this as a step to my analysis-
Does anybody know any trick for doing this? Can I do this by keeping the pressure inside fracture constant?-please give me comments
Dear All,
I am modeling rubber seal with hyperelastic material and I am using CAX4R Element for modeling. I achieved contact solution using initial analysis and as an output I got contact pressure and radial and axial displacement of the nodes.
measurment of FCG based on crack tip closure concept depend on :
1- experimental technique
2-location of the measurement
3- mean stress effect on FG at high stress ratio can not be explained by the closure model due to the absense of the crack closure at high loads.
Two question can be investigated as follows:
1- why crack tip closure is popular and it widely use in hightech industry like aircraft industry acording to overwiew of scentific articles.?
Is there any good reference for creep strength of 304 stainless steel at 1000C? I am very curious the behavior of such material at extreme conditions, like creep strength as a function of temp.

I am M.Tech student,i am working on Stability of shell Structures. I am in the process of selecting a relevant topic to do my M.Tech Thesis. For almost 2months now, i am searching for a topic which will be new and had not done much in the literature.
I had seen topics like anisotropic shells, buckling instability, snap-through, cracks in anisotropic cylindrical pressure vessels.
Thank you for all of quick response. Yes, I need a calculation method as long as good agreement with measurment methohs.Generalization will be important in which method we choose espesially in calculation of stress field.

I am using a FORTRAN FE code for 4 quad elements with a viscoelastic material and with contact analysis. The routine follows a Newton Raphson iteration scheme and which makes the residual zero for convergence. I am using direct sparse matrix solver from the FORTRAN math library.
It seems that the measurment of local stress and strain in fatigue crack tip will be difficult. some researcher use F.E analysis method,in contrary using of numerical solution. however analytical method also has investigated. what method you can imagine? i need a brain storm in this issue.
