thermodynamics equilibrium state vs. steady state???

I am not clear about two concepts: thermodynamics equilibrium state and steady state. It's easy to conceive of the following different two osmosis processes regarding thermodynamics equilibrium state and steady state, respecitvely.

How to partition an hexagonal with curves corners 3D solid

Dear all,

I would like to receive an advice so as to partition in a properly way this hexagonal solid. I tryed to use partition cell extrude cell/sweep edge in the the curved  edge, but the solid it has not been partitioned.

thanks in advanced

Overhead Electrical Conductors

In elementary mechanics textbooks, power lines are generally given as a typical example of a so-called “flexible cable”. However, in the design of these critical elements of a power grid  it is often necessary to take into account the conductor bending stiffness, or flexural rigidity. While relatively low compared with a bar having an equivalent solid cross-section, it does have some influence on a conductor response to wind excitation, in particular from the fatigue strength point of view.

prediction of crack path which is subjected to stress gradient and biaxial load.

Dear all.

I'm currently doing some research concerning crack path prediction in brittle thin film.

But I'm struggled to find efficient way to do it.

In reality my case: stress is higly confined within semi infinite narrow rectangular strip patten and out of this rectangular, stress is very low or near 0 compared to stress within the pattern. Crack starts from left side end and propagates within pattern toward right end side of pattern. Crack show wavy propagation behavior with regular period and amplitude.

eulerian region inside

Hi everybody,

I'm trying to model a 2D orthogonal cutting by Abaqus by using ALE method. I have some distortion of mesh in front of the cuuting noise so I try to define an eulerian surfaces around the cutting noise.

How to simulate edge dislocation in Abaqus?

Dear All,

I intend to investigate the stress field resulted by a single dislocation in the vicinity of grain boundary at a poly crystalline structure. Thereby, I have to somehow model this crystalline defect, but how? is it doable in the CAE or should invoke the related subroutines?

Thank you in advance for your tips.

New SIMULIA Tech Brief: Cogging Torque Analysis of Permanent Magnet Machines using Abaqus/Standard

When designing a permanent magnet machine, one of the most fundamental and difficult goals is to reduce the cogging torque curve. The challenge in reducing the cogging torque is to also decrease the numerical noise generated by the mesh. Finite element analyses and the advanced meshing functionality that is available through Abaqus/CAE allows for a faster and more accurate prototype.

buoyancy

Can i say, the center of buoyancy and the center of gravity of the immersed part are same?

Johsnon-cook model parameter determination

Hello All!!!

I am Arun, Master degree student in South Korea.

My research field is : High strain rate experiemnts

I did High speed tensile test for aluminium alloy at four different speeds (1m/s, 5m/s, 10m/s and 15m/s)

I also did high temp tensile test for aluminium alloy at room temperature, 100 C, 250C

Now i have the stress Vs Strain curve for High speed tensile test and high temperature test

But, i don't know how to determine Johnson-Cook model parameter from the experimental results

Cracking of the concrete cover due to reinforcement corrosion

Dear all,

Our paper titled "Cracking of the concrete cover due to reinforcement corrosion: A two-dimensional lattice model study"
has just been published in Construction and Building Materials. It deals with numerical modelling of cracking of the concrete cover as a consequence of reinforcement corrosion, based on the Delft lattice model framework. Dynamic buckling

I am working on a dynamic post-buckling problem.

I wonder if it is possible to simulate dynamic post-buckling of a column with pinned-pinned boundary conditions with an time varying (sinusoidal) axial load in Abaqus.

Thanks.

Good day.

Best Regards,

Rajnish
