Extreme Mechanics Letters is pleased to announce the Recipients of the 2025 EML Young Investigator Award
Extreme Mechanics Letters (EML) honors the best young researchers who have published their highly impactful papers in EML by bestowing upon them the EML Young Investigator Award (YIA). The winners of the EML YIA will be presented a certificate, an honorarium, and an opportunity to give an EML Webinar.
This year, we considered extremely highly impactful young researchers whose papers were published in EML in Volumes 70-79, from 2024 to 2025. We are very pleased to announce the Winners of the 2025 Extreme Mechanics Letters Young Investigator Award.
Carlos M. Portela, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA
Dr. Carlos M. Portela was selected based on his paper “Experiment-informed finite-strain inverse design of spinodal metamaterials”, Extreme Mechanics Letters, Volume 74, 102274 (2025).
Ruike Renee Zhao, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University, USA
Dr. Ruike Renee Zhao was selected based on her paper “Clot treatment via spinning-induced fibrin microstructure densification and clot volume reduction”, Extreme Mechanics Letters, Volume 79, 102391 (2025).
The winning papers are freely available for you to read online until 31 December 2026.
