Could please any one knows give me an idea about solving a problem which I face for the ages.
I have modelled a beam with a sharp edge at the corner of a rectangular hole with ABAQUS. I have introduced different crack length and using LEFM, I have made some predictions for the failure load of the beam. Now the predicted load is dependent on the crack length. How can I chooose the right crack length?

I have always, and I believe correctly, considered cohesize/bridging models linear elasticity. This is because whether we apply them to holes or cracks, we are solving the equations of ELASTICITY, with nonlinear boundary conditions along the part(s) of the crack along which a traction-separation law is applied. So the material model is totally elastic. All we did was to augment the elasticity theory with an ad hoc physical condition (inspired by experiments such as Dugdale).

I am woking on an optimization problem. In this optimization problem I want to use Matlab and ANSYS. In which MATLAB initiating the optimization problem, and send input values to ANSYS, then ANSYS find some results and send it to Matlab...then continue the optimization process.
Can any one help me to do these comunications between Matlab and ANSYS?
