Applied Mechanics Division Student Competition

The ASME AMD Division sponsors the Applied Mechanics Division Student Competition in Track 7 and Track 12, generously funded by the Haythornthwaite Foundation. Full-time students working on a project, thesis, or dissertation that is at a readiness for presentation at IMECE are encouraged to apply. 

AMD Award Banquet during IMECE 2022

Applied Mechanics Division of ASME will celebrate its traditional awards banquet on Nov 1 (Tuesday) during IMECE 2022. This year’s banquet is more special than other years. In addition to the regular awards related to AMD, this year two ASME medals, Melville medal and ASME Honorary member will be recognized.

Professor Pradeep Sharma will give a Plenary Lecture for Track 7 Dynamics, Vibration and Control at the IMECE Congress of the ASME in Columbus, OH, on Tuesday, November 1, 9:15AM - 10:00AM with title: Flexoelectricity and Electrets. many other disciplines. Its influence spans macro-, micro-, nano- and molecular
scales. When size goes down, adhesion plays a more and more significant role.

This is topic 12-21 Advanced Computational Methods for Fracture in the upcoming ASME Congress 2009 (November 13-19, Lake Buena Vista, FL., USA.) Deadline for abstract submissio: March 2, 2009.

The aim of the topic is to recognize the recent development in the computational tools for fracture characterization. The topic is open to all contributions on numerical techniques, simulations of fracture problems at all length scales, failure mechanism modeling, fracture prediction, and computational algorithms to achieve these goals.
