Siconos 4.0.0 is out !!

Submitted by vacary on

Dear Colleagues,

A brand new Siconos 4.0.0 is out !! Siconos is now distributed under Apache 2.0 license.

What is Siconos ?

Siconos is an open-source scientific software primarily targeted at modeling and simulating nonsmooth dynamical systems in C++ and in Python:

+ Mechanical systems (rigid or solid) with unilateral contact and Coulomb friction and impact (nonsmooth mechanics, contact dynamics, multibody systems dynamics or granular materials).

Simulation of solids mechanics with impact contact and friction, The Siconos software release 3.5.0

Submitted by vacary on

Dear colleagues,

For people interesting in the simulation of solids mechanics with impact contact and friction, we are pleased to announce the release 3.5.0 of the Siconos software. The software is open-source, under GPL Licence and can be found at http://siconos.gforge.inria.fr/

It contains several time--stepping integrators for the nonsmooth dynamics and a large colection of solvers of the frictional contact problems that can be used separately.

A summer school on Nonsmooth Contact and Impact Mechanics. Aussois. September 2012

Submitted by vacary on

Dear Colleagues,

A summer school on Nonsmooth Contact and Impact Mechanics is organized from September 10 to 14 at Aussois in the French Alpes. The main focus of the school will be on modeling and numerical/simulation  aspects,  and the following topics will be covered:

Algorithms for contact detection in time-stepping numerical methods

Convergence of time-stepping methods

Multiple impacts in multibody systems

Painlevé paradoxes

Waves in chains of balls

Simulating large fiber assemblies such as hair

Computational impact, friction and contact mechanics. the Siconos software
